Lowry

I look out upon a painting,

A Lowry urban scene;

Factory plumes and knocking rooms,

where grey has conquered green.

Perhaps just I

will bat an eye,

For I have crossed the tracks.

And yet, not so,

For I do know;

That what's gone won't come back.

And memories are commodities

As tomorrow fades to black

Sorrow, still

At my window sill

With scorn,

I'm looking back

On a door that's bolted shut.
