Auburn

Auburn sleep,

and auburn dream.

Wake and take a final breath.

A world was built,

made just for thee;

But it is someplace else.

Now drift there in your auburn haze.

Away,

away,

to sunny days;

And rainless sky.

Where genius meets with just deserts,

Tears are dry,

A life of artistry won't hurt.

Where the wine is sweet,

The breezes cool,

The music gentle in a hall;

Baroque in style,

And turpentine,

Of a distant, other time.

Where Auburn angels go to rest,

Safe in the knowledge they'll live on.

In the bleeding hearts of walk-on parts,

On the stage that they have built.
